About Your Course

Rosetta Stone builds a course for you based on your goals. When you first start Rosetta Stone TOTALe™, you choose the focus and length of your course.

Your Recommended course may vary depending on the language you are learning, and offers a mix of skills.

• The Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening course helps you learn a balanced variety of language skills.
• The Extended course provides you with more practice.
• The Speaking and Listening course focuses on learning to speak the language.
• The Reading and Writing course emphasizes the written language.

The option Learn letters and sounds includes Reading activities that introduce the sounds that letters make in the language you are learning. If you are familiar with the letters and sounds, or do not want to focus on this material, turn this option off. Learn letters and sounds is available for the Recommended, Extended, and Reading and Writing courses (not for Speaking and Listening).

Note: Some languages use more than one script system, such as Traditional or Simplified characters in Chinese. Click the script system you want to learn.

If you later change your language-learning goals, you can choose a different course in the Course Settings from the Preferences menu.
