Rosetta World™
Rosetta World is a fun, interactive online community where you put your new language into play. You can explore by yourself in Solo activities, interact with other learners in Duo activities, or participate in a Simbio™ language exchange with native speakers.
How do I get there?
From your TOTALe Home Screen, click to choose a play mode:
- Solo – play games and activities by yourself for practice, and read Stories to get a taste of culture and stretch your language abilities.
- Duo – play games with other learners in the language you're both learning. Click the microphone icon to speak, or click the mouse icon to play non-speaking activities.
- Simbio – play two activities in a language exchange: practice with a native speaker, and help your partner practice your Simbio language (the language you speak most fluently – your native language). Click the microphone icon to speak, or click the mouse icon to play non-speaking activities.
The numbers on the buttons show how many people are online and ready to play in each activity type in the language you're learning.
What will I see?
You'll see games and activities for interacting with other members of the Rosetta World community. As you make progress in your Rosetta Course, you'll unlock more activities that you're ready to play.
- Anyone you play an activity with becomes your Connection. In the lower left, you'll see when your Connections are online.
- Click View Connections to open a chat window. Remember to chat only in the language you're learning, or the language you're helping your partner practice.
- You'll earn Stamps by making progress in Rosetta Course, Rosetta Studio, and Rosetta World.
- Your Newsfeed shows the Stamps that people in the Rosetta World community have earned.
- Language Hours are the times you're most likely to find people to play with in Rosetta World in the language you're learning.
What will I do?
You'll choose an activity to play and find a partner to play with:
- Roll your mouse over an activity and click About for instructions. Watch a brief tutorial video to learn how to play.
- Click Play to join an activity with a partner.
- Click Play to start a new activity.
You'll put your new language into play. You'll play language games and activities with both Learners at your level and native speakers. You'll speak on your own. Most of all, you'll have fun with your new language!
Some of your activity partners will be members of RWorld™, our companion site for conversational practice. You can play Simbio activities with RWorld members in a language exchange, to practice with native speakers and help them practice your Simbio language.
